Florian - vacation

Florian and I stayed home together this week and took a vacation. Daycare was closed.
On Monday we spent the day with Jonathan. We "walked" some errands and ended the day at the Park. We also visited the "lieberries" and got a few books and a free pass to the Chicago Children's museum.
Tuesday Florian and I went to the Lincoln Park Zoo. We spent about 2 hours there in 90 F heat. We saw monkeys, tigers & leopards, lamas, flamingos, snakes and much more. After a well deserved and long nap, we once again ventured out to the park.
Wednesday was reserved for play between Jonathan and Florian. I went into work for a few hours (commission time) and ended my day with girl's night out.
Thursday Ryan also stayed home and we spent the morning at the beach. Lake Michigan was a little chilly at first, but Ryan and Florian quickly adjusted. I kept only my feet in the water.
Friday afternoon we went to the Chicago Children's Museum. We took the train into the city and took a bus to Navy Pier. Two hours of fun with water, blocks, tools, dinosaur bones, fishing and driving a bus ended with a nice dinner and Florian passing out on the train in the way home...

Details for Wednesday:

We played cars... for a long time. Then we sped the stroller to the park, where we chased squirrels, said hi to dogs, avoided weird bums, and played soccer. Florian has a strong right foot and pretty impressive ball control while running for his age. Then we played on the playground for as long as the heat permitted. On the way back, we noticed that we forgot the soccer ball ("The ball. Where is it?") and went back to go and look for it. Florian found it first. ("There it is! I got it!"). On our way back to the apartment, we found out that blackberries squished on the sidewalk are best left where they are and also stick to the bottom of our shoes if we walk all over them ("Joni? Clean?)... the young man is very cleanly, afterwards. Back home, we washed the shoes, ate lunch (strong preference for Schinken) and then Uncle Jonathan declared nap time, which was vehemently declined, but Uncle Joni struck a deal with the Sandman and five minutes later sweet Morpheus had abducted Florian to dreamland. After two & half hours napping, we spent the afternoon building things with Florian's tool set, reading about eight or ten books (the favorite is one about having a baby brother, the other favorite about crocodiles going to the beach), sometimes twice (the Hasenschule, for instance), playing hide and seek, singing songs, playing more cars, and then trains, and then cars again. Then Florian asked for a bath and was about to get sleepy when Ryan came home, and took over the entertainment. The end. -Ish. Ryan makes good company, too.
